Weddings at Unley Park Baptist

Unley Park Baptist Church has many weddings throughout the year. Here is some information which you may need in deciding if Unley Park Baptist is the Church you may wish to be married in.

Wedding Information

You will need to know the following information for your wedding at the Unley Park Baptist Church.

Booking the Church

After your initial contact, a temporary booking will be made which will stand for one (1) month. To confirm your booking, please complete the tear-off slip and forward it to the Office Secretary as soon as possible. An accompanying contribution of $50 confirms the booking.

Weddings on Sundays

It has become impractical for weddings to be conducted on Sundays due to the general use of the Church facilities.

Rehearsal

Normally a one hour rehearsal will be held just before the wedding with the full wedding party in attendance. The time and date should be listed with your booking and confirmed with the Wedding Co-ordinator at least one (1) month before the wedding.

Music Arrangements

The Church Organ is available for use. Please consult with the Wedding Co-ordinator if the organ is required.

Copyright

As it is our duty to comply with copyright laws you must discuss the congregational songs with our Wedding Co- ordinator before printing any hymn sheets or overhead transparencies. It would be appreciated if a copy of the hymn sheet could be given to the Office Secretary for our copyright records.

Arrangement of furniture

We would ask that furniture, particularly the piano, not be moved. However, if you have some very special requirements, please discuss any re-arrangements with the Wedding Co-ordinator.

Flowers

It is normal for the wedding party to arrange for flowers. All arrangements must be made in consultation with the Church Flower Convenor at least one(1) month before the wedding.

PA/Tapes of the Service

Arrangements may be made for using the PA system and/or taping the wedding service. For this service you will need to contact the PA Coordinator not less than one (1) month before the wedding. Video Taping is a personal responsibility.

Ushers

It is recommended that at least 2 ushers be in attendance to supervise the seating of your guests.

Confetti

We ask that no confetti or similar be thrown inside the buildings. Council recommends only environmentally friendly materials such as rice or rose petals be used outside.

Photographs

Photographs may be taken inside the Church. It is customary for the photographer to liaise with the wedding party and the minister prior to the ceremony.

Pre-Marriage Counselling

If one of the Pastors from Unley Park Baptist Church is officiating, it will be necessary for the bride & groom to participate in 3 counselling sessions prior to their wedding.

Notice of Intended Marriage

This is to be given on the form provided by the minister and lodged with him not earlier than six (6) months and not later than one (1) month before the wedding. With this "Notice" both the bride and groom must submit a Birth Certificate, and where applicable, Death Certificate/Divorce Decree relating to a former marriage.

Witnesses

Two persons over the age of 18 years are required to witness the signing of the registers at the ceremony.
