Have you lost your way recently?
One of the things that struck me when I was in Japan a while back was the number of cars that have GPS devices in them.
Almost standard equipment.
You just program your destination and it tells you where to go. It tells you to turn left or right. If you decided to ignore it, it asks you if you had a better way in mind!!
GPS device with attitude!

We're back in the 'Minor Prophets'.
Now if these were seminars that you paid to attend you would have sat down this week and learned the names of these prophets.
But because we think of sermon as an optional extra, we probably haven't given it a second thought!!
Let's go again.
Hosea
Joel
Amos
Obadiah
Jonah
Micah
Naham
Habakkuk
Zephaniah
Haggai

It's been interesting to watch how the TV has advertised the return of all our favourite shows.
All new explosive CSI.
Heart stopping ER
Cold Case and Without a Trace will have us holding our breath.
All Saints opens with the Emergency Team falling through a floor at a night club!
Then Dr Phil is back live. No more repeats!!
How did we get through December and January?
There is a familiarity about us that borders on phobic!

Last Monday I was sitting in sun having lunch when I noticed all these ants climbing on Lyn's foot and being a thorough nuisance. So I did the chivalrous thing and began stomping on them.
Word seemed to get out tis monster that was attacking them because more ants came from nowhere. I was impressed by their show of solidarity. I watched them for a while. I admired them.

I'm not sure what it says about me but I'm getting more and more e-mails sent to me from friends that start with the words
Do you remember when?
# It took five minutes for the TV warm up?
# Nearly everyone's Mum was at home when the kids got home from school?
# Nobody owned a purebred dog?
# You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and petrol pumped, without asking, all for free, every time?
# Cereals had free toys hidden inside the box?

One of her friends was a special Bumblebee. He was called "Do Bee." Miss Joan taught all the boys and girls how to be a "Do Bee" and how not to be a "Don't Bee."

Today Matters
He tells how he went into a small business one day and there was a sign on the wall.
57 Laws of Success

There are some things that just have to come first in life.
There some things we just have to know if we are to survive.
There are some things that if we get them right, other things won't matter!

Life is proverbial.
We probably don't stop to realise how much of life we can reduce to simple proverbial statements.
Let me give you some examples. I'll say the first part and you finish it off.
"When the going gets tough . . . the tough get going."
"What goes up . . . must come down."

We are making our way through the Bible.
At present we have come to books of Poetry
Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon.
They are choc full of life.
You will find every human emotion in these books.
You cannot read these books without seeing your self in here.
They will challenge you, comfort you, bewilder you and inspire you.

There is an irony about this morning. Last week we celebrated, this week we look at suffering. Life is like that. We live in between those two extremes!
One of hardest things to take in life is when things don't make sense. Children struggle with this all the time, but the problem with children is that they just don't know enough! Things are unfair to child because their frame of reference is so small!
Eg.
