Saturday, 19th May, 2012.
Thu Apr 1: Today may we deliberately seek to honour God in all we think, say and do. May we show wisdom. It is the fool who says in his heart 'There is no God.' Our employment with Pioneers of Australia has finished, pray we will understand God's direction for the future.
Fri Apr 2: This is the day that Jesus died. He gave up his life as a sacrifice to pay the penalty of sin. God demonstrated his anger and holiness and, at the same time, God showed his love to sinful people because Christ was a substitute for us. This is good news.
Sat Apr 3: Today is Jessica's 12th birthday. We thank God for her, and her unique personality. The past six months have had many changes. Thank you for your prayers for her. Continue to pray that she will adjust to living in Australia after PNG. Pray for good friends. May she know God's love for her. Pray we will care for her and be a good example to her.
Sun Apr 4: Resurrection Day! Christ is risen indeed. God shows his power, and grants us forgiveness, eternal life and he indwells us by his Holy Spirit. This is the richness of God's grace. Don't keep it to yourself, but talk about Jesus with other people.
Mon Apr 5: Give thanks that things went smoothly about moving to our new home and selling our old house. There are still many boxes, drums and crates to unpack. Pray that we can establish patterns for our family. The girls are looking forward to school holidays for two weeks.
Tue Apr 6: This will be our last monthly prayer notes, and April will be our final newsletter ‘The Latest'. It will be difficult for us to get news from PNG. If you would like to get news of Mapodo or about our family, please contact us directly. We will then decide on what we might do.
Wed Apr 7: Continue to pray for us as we prepare material to share with supporters and friends. We are grateful for all who have prayed for us regularly and those who have contributed finance over the years. Pray that these folk will continue to remember people at CTC Mapodo in PNG.
Thu Apr 8: Pray for Nathan with friendships at work - for cooperation, safety and skill development. Pray too for after hours relaxing together. May he always remember he is a son of God. Pray for he and Troy and Craig as they share a house together.
Fri Apr 9: Pray for Daki, the Principal at CTC Mapodo. May God give him wisdom and discernment in daily jobs, and for planning several months ahead. Pray for his wife Dibole as she encourages other staff wives, and student women.
Sat Apr 10: Lectures at CTC Mapodo start today for three weeks. Pray for two new groups of students beginning short courses for two months: one course in Bamu language for church workers from the Bamu tribe, and a similar course in English for church workers from various tribes.
Sun Apr 11: Pray for Busu and his wife Alala. Busu is a teacher at CTC Mapodo. Give thanks for their years pastoring a church in Port Moresby, and the experiences they can share with other staff and students. Pray for creativity and ensiasm in helping students learn, and grow in Christ.
Mon Apr 12: Pray for Kukuwato Suliki, a single female 3rd year student from Christian Leaders' Training College, who will be a trainee teacher at CTC Mapodo for the next two months. Pray for her to establish a good routine for her lecture preparation. Pray for other staff members to mentor and encourage her.
Tue Apr 13: Pray for Phil to listen carefully to God's voice, and happily obey. May he walk humbly with God, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. May he love Lesli as Jesus loved the church; may he train the girls in the ways of God; may he encourage Nathan; may he share the life and love of God with others each day.
Wed Apr 14: Pray for new national PNG workers in MAF – to learn their tasks, and to do them wholeheartedly as serving God. Pray for the new expatriate finance manager, Geoff Boer, and his wife Jennifer, as they settle in to life in Mt Hagen, and get used to MAF's systems.
Thu Apr 15: Pray for another staff couple at CTC Mapodo: Kabesa (teacher) and Tawato. Kabesa is a man from a local village. His help is valuable for liaising on issues about use of land for hunting, food gathering, collecting firewood, and use of creeks and the river.
Fri Apr 16: Christian Leaders' Training College (CLTC) serves people from more than twenty denominations in PNG and nearby nations. Pray for more national teachers to join the staff. Pray for ancillary staff, students and teachers to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
Sat Apr 17: Continue to pray for us as we seek God and wait for him to show us what paths we should take regarding training, future careers, and employment. May we not run ahead with our own ideas, and miss his plans. May we have discernment to hear his Holy Spirit's voice.
Sun Apr 18: Pray Felicity will be confident in God's love for her. May she know the encouragement of his Holy Spirit. Pray for good friendships at school, other activities and youth group. Pray for pleasure in her leisure times.
Mon Apr 19: Our girls resume school today. Pray for a good balance of time on school matters, and family life, as well as other interests. Pray for choices about activities after school has finished and on the weekends. Pray for good friends who will be a positive influence to the girls.
Tue Apr 20: Pray for CTC Mapodo teacher Kaima and his wife Ruth. Pray they will encourage students and staff to value the word of God, to memorise it and think deeply about what God has already said. May they have friends in local villages who will help them with food, as they are from a different tribal group over 100 kilometres away.
Wed Apr 21: Continue to pray for the construction of the new Balimo Hospital. It is expected to take about another 18 months. Pray for staff working with limited facilities. Pray too for patients who need to be referred to other hospitals, that transport will be available to move them quickly.
Thu Apr 22: Pray Anna will enjoy learning new things at school, despite the pressure of work. May she find ways and time to relax and enjoy other activities. Pray for positive friendships. May God encourage her each day.
Fri Apr 23: Keep praying about our girls and youth groups. It would be nice if there were friends whom they knew already. We want them to be in groups which have godly values and behaviour, that help their self esteem and identity as young Christian women of faith.
Sat Apr 24: Pray for the secretary at CTC Mapodo, Bisato (and her husband Salikaba), that she will work diligently, honestly and happily cooperate with staff and students. Pray also for Kiwiya, the part time carpenter. Pray he will work carefully, and finish jobs well. Pray for skilled helpers.
Sun Apr 25: Pray for Mrs Marjorie Deasey (ex missionary, now aged 98) who is visiting PNG for two weeks. She will distribute Bibles at high schools at Awaba and Balimo. Pray for good health while travelling. Pray God will use her to draw people to the saviour, Jesus.
Mon Apr 26: Pray for Tony & Jill Lohmeyer who are now based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where Tony is an engineer for MAF. Pray for them with big differences in culture from Papua New Guinea. Pray for them as they develop new friendships where they live and at work.
Tue Apr 27: On Saturday staff and students from CTC Mapodo will go on patrol to villages for a week. Pray for safe travel and good weather; for a welcome and accommodation by villagers; for protection from Satan and demons; for wives and children to cooperate well back at Mapodo.
Wed Apr 28: Pray Lesli will know God's love for her personally - as his daughter, made in his image, and precious to him. May she know God's help to her as a woman, wife, and mother. May God lead her on into the future and reveal his plans for her.
Thu Apr 29: Pray for Adidiya Munge and Bani Gomada who are two key leaders of the Evangelical Church of PNG, based at Balimo. May they have wisdom, discernment, grace and courage in teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
Fri Apr 30: This is our final set of monthly prayer notes as missionaries with Pioneers of Australia. We are grateful to God for you who have faithfully prayed for us over many years. We are certain that the prayers of God's people have enabled us to serve God, and God has drawn people to himself. Thank you. To him be the glory.
