At Unley Park Baptist, our church Council are appointed lay leaders who provide oversight with the Lead Pastor to enable God’s Purpose and Vision for our church. These leaders are voted in by the Church Membership for 3 year terms. The Council acts as the Board to attend to the governance and management of the church.
The Council consists of two parts: The Elders provide ‘Shepherding’ (Pastoral/Discipleship) oversight, and the Deacons provide ‘Enabling’ (Administrative/Management) oversight. Elders and Deacons work together to fulfil Board Governance functions for the church.
After an AGM the Council appoints people to the Council roles for the following year. This year the Council has appointed:
- Chair of Council: Rey Chin
- Treasurer: Glenn Dixon
- Chair of Elders: Tara Kimber
- Chair of Deacons: Glenn Dixon.
- Members: Andrew Edelsten, Jason Hoet, Nev Pace
The membership of the Council Committees are:
- Risk & Compliance Committee: Chair: Rey Chin. Members: Bron Badger, Glenn Dixon, Jason Hoet.
- Finance & Assets Committee: Chair: Glenn Dixon. Members: Bron Badger, Jason Hoet, Alison Jeisman.
Council currently has vacancies for 3 Elders and 3 Deacons.
Andrew Edelsten is the outgoing Council chair and has served as our Council chair from 2021- 2024. We are grateful for his calm, wise, faithful leadership throughout this time.
