Ephesians 4:15-16.
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
What does it take to “give something a go”? Recently, I tried something new – dancing to Forrest Frank song, “Your way’s better”. The moves involved hip action, which isn’t my strong suit. My kids had a good laugh at my stiff style and offered instruction. I gave it a go… and I’m still clueless! The experience reminded me: trying something new often means feeling awkward, risking embarrassment, and sometimes wondering why you tried at all.
At church, we’re encouraging everyone to “give it a go.” During our Thanksgiving service, we reflected on Ephesians 4:15–16, which reminds us that we grow to be more like Jesus when each person plays their part in the body of Christ.
To grow more like Jesus, we need everyone involved. God has given us many opportunities—Alpha, discipleship, growth groups, mentoring, outreach, pastoral care, leadership. To expand our ministry, we need more people willing to “give it a go”.
This will require commitments from us all. It means choosing a posture of growth and taking steps of faith in our service for God. It means the church choosing to encourage, equip, and empower.
So next time God nudges you toward something new, even if it feels a bit uncomfortable… why not give it a go?
In Him,
Jason
