Most of us ask questions about significance, identity, relationships, vocation. Do I matter? Who am I? Where do I belong? What should I do with my life? But these questions are not theoretical, they are personal. What does belonging look like for me now? What is God asking of me in this season? How should I respond?
Following Jesus does not mean receiving instant answers to every question. But we can learn to bring our questions into the presence of God. There we can start to notice, to test what we are hearing, to see how we can respond, to learn to discern.
Paul writes,
“Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
Discernment grows as God renews us and shapes how we see.
This is why our core spiritual practices matter. Scripture helps us recognise God’s character and purposes. Prayer and reflection help us notice what is happening within and around us. Our Faith companions offer wisdom, encouragement and honest perspective.
We do not discern alone. God uses practices, people and the journey of life itself to form us. Clarity often emerges as we pray, listen, talk, serve and take the next faithful step.
So, what questions are you carrying today? Which practices are helping you listen? Who is walking with you? As you reflect, how is God already revealing his good and pleasing will?
In Him,
Jason
