We’ve had a challenging and encouraging May Missions month! The passage I offer you to memorise for June is intended to hold in our minds and hearts all we have experienced in May.
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:26-29 (NIV)
This is another flagship passage for the church – one to not only memorise but live by. As Jason explained last Sunday, our identity as children of God outstrips and outranks all other identities we might find in ethnicity, status or gender. At a time when identity is increasingly defined by exactly these, this message is more important than ever. Our task as the Body of Christ is to celebrate diversity certainly, but above all, to be one family. God’s love and forgiveness transcends all boundaries –
“It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open.” Acts 10:34 (MSG)
– and he calls us to do the same.
I’m disappointed that I haven’t yet had to give out any Chupachups – if chocolate is preferred, I’m sure we can come to an arrangement!
