Couples & Family Support
CHRISTOPHER RAYMOND GRAVES, PHD, GRAD DIP (FAMILY THERAPY), CA
Chris leads our Couples Support Services through facilitating the Marriage Course, Community Seminars and providing specialised Couples & Family support.
Chris is married to Bec, and they have an adult son and two senior cocker spaniels.
At Unley Park Baptist Church (UPBC), we strive to strengthen people and their communities so they can live well. As part of UPBC's ministry to the local community, Chris leads our Couples' Support Services by facilitating the Marriage Course with Bec, Community Seminars, and specialised Couples' and family support.
In 2017, Chris completed a Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice at Bower Place's Complex Needs Clinic under the guidance of psychologist and family therapist Catherine Sanders. Chris has also completed levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He is working towards becoming a registered clinical family therapist with the Australian Association of Family Therapy under psychologist Catherine Sanders, Director of Bower Place.
Chris employs the Gottman Method Couples Therapy approach and the Bower Method when working with couples. He aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where couples can work through challenges and strengthen their relationships.
Chris does not diagnose or offer therapy to address mental health conditions. If a couple requires such specialised care, he will encourage them to seek a qualified counsellor or psychologist trained to address mental health concerns.
