Things are gathering pace as the SALA Team works to bring together our 5th annual SALA Exhibition, beginning with a launch on 9th August!  Our theme this year is Anticipate, which has proved a bit of a challenge for some but is resulting in some fantastic artwork! As followers of Jesus, our anticipation is grounded in the hope we have in God, both in this life and in the next. This is also the theme of our conversation sermons for the next few weeks – I hope you find the interviewees’ stories bring insight and encouragement to your own faith.

Why do we throw ourselves into putting on an exhibition every year like this? Our purpose is twofold. Firstly, we want to provide a space for artists of all ages and stages from our own church body and beyond to grow in creativity and to share their gifts. Secondly, we want to create an opportunity for all of you to bring someone who might be interested in art to make a connection with our church and experience the art offered. As well as bringing a friend to view the exhibition, this year we are offering a practical entry level workshop on each Saturday and Sunday during exhibition times, so that you can invite a friend to take part with you.  You can book a workshop by going to upbc.org.au/sala.

Please pray for the SALA Team and also for the artists – it is a big thing to exhibit something personal and revealing for others to see, both in terms of skill and meaning. Pray too, that new connections would be made with our church that will bear fruit into the future.
