MANY HANDS, LIGHTER WORK

Alice YoungFrontPage, News, Pastor

Last Sunday evening we enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Street Party. Since then, we have had warm, positive feedback on the night. People noted the welcome, the fun, the community feel, the musical talent, the breadth of ages involved. The night offered a beautiful picture into our church family.

One of our guests, Unley Mayor Michael Hewitson kindly thanked Unley Park for the concert and sharing the good news of a life of love and service. He noted, “It takes a lot to put on an event like that, and it was done so smoothly”. It does take a lot. There is planning, rehearsals, cooking, setting up, coordinating, performing, packing down. All real work. But it is a lot less work when we have many hands. This year, through the organisation, numbers and enthusiasm of our volunteers, the staff noted how much easier this street party was. We had many willing hands to make lighter work of a great event.

How encouraging to know when we serve together, big jobs become achievable, and God does great things. This year I believe we had the strongest connection with playgroup families, local neighbours, non-church going locals, family and friends. I believe we were able to plant seeds about our hope in Jesus and commend the church community. People loved all we offered, and I am sure look forward to returning. It wasn’t too difficult, because we did it together. Well done everyone. I love serving God with you.

In Him,

Jason
