What can God do when we ‘Give It a Go’?

What are you like when it comes to trying new things with faith and trust in God? Many of us find this hard, especially as we get older. That’s surprising, given how often we’ve seen God come through for us. As we look ahead at Unley Park Baptist Church, one simple question is shaping our prayers and plans: what can God do when we give it a go?

Over the past weeks, quiet groundwork has been happening behind the scenes. We’ve been reviewing our ministries, strengthening our teams, clarifying how we lead and serve, and asking honest questions about how we can grow as disciples of Jesus. Not because change is exciting for its own sake—but because we’re hungry to know God more and to follow where he is leading.

This year is about attitude, not pressure. It’s about open hearts, available lives, and people willing to say, “Lord, here I am—use me.” That might mean trying a new ministry, offering a skill, joining a group, serving a neighbour, or simply praying more deeply. Every step of faith matters.

Our hope is that, together, we would ‘give it a go’ by loving God more, so we can serve God best. We don’t have to rely on our own strength. God asks us to respond to his grace with willingness and courage. The Bible is full of ordinary people who made themselves available, and God worked through them.

So, as the year unfolds, let’s open our hearts and hands to God. Let’s expect God to grow our faith, stretch us, and surprise us with what he can do through a community that is prayerful and ready to say yes.

In Him,
