How easy is it for your schedule to crowd out space for stillness and peace? Most days feel like a constant press to do more, fit more in, and keep up. Yet Jesus invites us into a different way of living. A rhythm that values connection over checklists.
As I write this, I’m about to head off on leave for a month. This means I’m trying to squeeze as much as possible into the time before I go. No time for holidays yet. No space to slow down. Crazy, isn’t it?
Here’s our challenge. At Unley Park Baptist, we believe that to help others, we need a rich life with Jesus ourselves. That starts with how we manage our time and energy. When we are rested, we have more room to encounter God and to love our neighbours well. We listen better. We love more deeply. We know this. And then the day begins.
So, in the middle of the rush, can we make small, intentional choices to pause and breathe? Maybe it’s a quiet cup of tea. A short walk through your local streets. For me, it’s prayer and taking a breath before the day launches. I am learning, that because I love working hard, rest isn’t optional. It’s essential.
As fellow overstretched battlers, let’s keep finding time for stillness with God, and ourselves. Quiet presence with God is a precious gift for every day. And in case you are wondering, on my holidays, I really do plan to rest, to leave space for connection, stillness, adventure and joy.
In Him,
Jason
