This past week we held our annual Mother’s Day Morning Tea for our playgroup families. It’s an event we’ve been running at Unley Park for over 8 years and it remains a highlight of our calendar.
Our aim is simple: to give families a moment to pause—something that can be rare on Mother’s Day when life is often a whirlwind of visits, obligations, and enthusiastically received handmade macaroni necklaces from preschool.
We want mums to be able to sit, start and finish a hot drink, enjoy a warm sausage roll or a slice of the much-loved caramel slice, and simply breathe for a few minutes. A chance to chat, meet someone new, and feel seen, valued, and cared for—even if just briefly.
Sarah shares a short encouragement each year and takes time to pray for the mums, which is always a meaningful part of the morning. We were also blessed this year by our local community, with Mitre 10 kindly providing free plants for each mum to take home.
A huge thank you to everyone who cooked, served, and prayed. Over 50 families were warmly welcomed, and it was a beautiful expression of our church in action—simple, generous, and full of God’s love.
